This nationally recognised course will provide you with the training and certification required to inspect height safety equipment at a basic level.

The course includes:

• Legislative requirements and standards for managing equipment inspection
• The importance of equipment inspection
• How to prepare to inspect equipment and set-up your work area
• What to look for when inspecting
• Common failures across many equipment types
• The inspection process and identifying faults
• The difference between user-servicable and non-user-servicable components
• How to identify non-compliance and recommend remedial action
• Procedures for tagging equipment out of service
• Record-keeping & reporting requirements

Upon completion of the course, participants will be given free of charge access to a selection of downloadable inspection checklist templates. 

All participants must be able to communicate effectively and read and write clearly in English and must be able to complete all required documentation including simulated workplace reports etc

If you are working in the fire sector:

PUAFIR210 Prevent injury - (only applies to participants working in the fire sector as follows)

• The fire sector is those sections of government departments, statutory authorities or organisations that have responsibility under jurisdictional arrangements for the delivery of firefighting and fire management services.
• It is essential that the prerequisite units listed below are obtained prior to the issuance of this unit to individuals within the fire sector or the units contributing to the attainment of a fire qualification

Membership of WAHA is encouraged to stay up to date with requirements.

This course is assessed using a variety of theoretical discussion, composing and writing written reports. The course also requires completion of assessments on equipment including:

• Safety Harnesses
• Lanyards (single and twin tail)
• Type 1, 2 and 3 fall arrest devices
• Slings, Tie Off Adapters
• Connectors (carabiners, snap hooks, scaff hooks, mallions)
• Helmets
• Rope
• Anchors (temporary)

Practical components include walking around and moving objects up to 15kg in weight.

Successful completion of the course will result in the issuance of a Statement of Attainment in:

This course, in addition to RIIWSH204E Work Safely At Height, meets the requirements of AS1891.4 2009 "Height Safety Equipment Inspector"
